For me, heading into summer in Florida means rainy days ahead for sure, and it’s had me thinking about one aspect of rainy days I do enjoy, book time. While some love the rain, and others not so much, it’s pretty much agreed that a cozy indoor activity, like reading, is a great way to pass a rainy day. With that in mind, here are some tips for making the most of your rainy days… with books!

Wear something comfy

Don your sweatpants, slip into a big comfy sweater, wear your slippers if you’re at home. wear your comfy jeans or leggings out to the bookstore. You want to be comfortable if you have to hang around while it pours outside.

Find a good spot

If it’s a light drizzle and you feel comfortable on a covered porch, that works. Or you can pick a seat by the window, or on a windowsill. A cafe or a bookstore, if you’re able, is also a great place to hang out on a rainy day, and of course you can always curl up on the couch or in bed with a book.

Have coffee or tea or your drink of choice. Having something good to sip while you read makes it that much more enjoyable.

Have a snack

You can get creative and have something related to your book, or maybe on this rainy day you want something comforting like a warm bowl of soup,or some fresh baked cookies to go with your tea.

Create ambiance

Light a candle, turn on twinkle lights, put on soft music in the background, anything that gives your space a cozy feel.

Relax, slow down

This is a great time to quiet your mind and be present in the moment, when it’s pouring outside, and you’re safe inside, curled up with a book. The rain is a good time to stop the racing around, trying to get everything done, and just be.

Enjoy the rain

Listen to it, smell it, feel all the feels.
