When I think of a beach read, or a pool read, or anywhere sun and buns are out, I think of the candy colored covers of contemporary romance books, paired with a fruity drink and some cute sunnies.

For me, the cherry on top of a perfect summer day at the beach is escaping into a fun, light hearted, romance.

The Unhoneymooners- Christina Lauren

Books that literally take place on vacation like The Unhoneymooners fit the vibe perfectly. I flew though this one, it was fun and had me jonesing for a tropical vacation

(exactly why you should read it at the beach.)

The Accidental Beauty Queen- Teri Wilson

Another book I recommend is The Accidental Beauty Queen. It doesn’t get any fluffier than a beauty pageant, a cute little Frenchie pup, and switching-with-my-twin-sister trope. This was like watching a rom-com with a makeover montage, and the ending really tied it together nicely.

Cool For the Summer- Dahlia Adler

Cool for the summer was a cute YA coming-of-age romance about Lara who finally gets the attention of her long time crush, after she spends a summer away. She then realizes her summer fling has just transferred to her school at the same time. It’s got a little love triangle but was handled well for a teen romance and has a lot of cute summer flashbacks, perfect for a beach read.

Red, White, and Royal Blue- Casey McQuiston

Lastly we have the much talked about, red white and royal blue, a rivals to friends to lovers story about the president’s son and prince of England. The characters are adorable and the whole thing gives very much a Princess Diaries vibe, quirky and fun, and is also being made into a movie.
