So I recently hit the library for a summer book haul, and of course, that put me in the mood for a good beach day! It’s hit or miss on a Florida summer day. It could be a perfectly warm cloudless day, or it could be overcast and grumbling (lets not forget our favorite sun showers too) but if the weather is right I grab my gear and head for the beach! Here are some tips for planning the perfect day to read on the beach!
Pack Your Bag
Towel, Water, sunglasses, and sunscreen are a given, but also remember to pack a snack. My favorite beach combo is fruit, sweet potato chips, and coconut water. You may want to bring a notebook and a pen if you like to take notes while reading. Of course, bring your book of choice. Headphones or speakers are great if you like to add a little music. A big comfy beach blanket is a must, trust me, and possibly a beach umbrella, and don't forget a cute hat!

Pick The Right Beach
This is totally personal, I tend to choose a beach that has plenty of room to spread out, and isn’t too crowded. I also tend to avoid heavy traffic time, like late morning on a weekend, for a little peace and quiet to enjoy a good book. If you get sunburned easily, pick a beach with some shady spots to relax in. If you like to mix it up and grab some cheese fries to munch while you read, find a beach with a snack bar.

Pack the right book
The right book can be anything you’re currently reading, a new release that you’re stoked about, or something from a specific genre, as long as it’s something fun you can’t wait to dive into. I personally like to pick cute, fluffy, romances, especially if the main character is on vacation. When I’m having chill beach time, I like something that keeps me in that good mood, that doesn’t require super concentration, because there will likely be squealing kiddos nearby, or lifeguards driving their sand buggies, or a seagull scuttling ever so close up to my bag of chips. All is well though, if I got the sun warming my back and a cute romance book that makes me giggle.

Remember Sunscreen
I feel it’s my responsibility to add that sun protection is good for everyone, and if you’re going to be at the beach for hours, please, please, re-apply your sunscreen. Set a timer if you need to, and read, don’t burn!
